Folarin Balogun Reportedly Set to Leave Monaco in January Transfer Window

Folarin Balogun's future appears to be away from Monaco. Club CEO Thiago Scuro acknowledged that the French side intends to find a new destination for the American striker during the upcoming January transfer window.

Folarin Balogun could be entering his final months as a Monaco player. After his departure failed to materialize during the summer transfer window, the Ligue 1 club will once again look to find a new destination for the United States international in January.

Thiago Scuro, the club's CEO, explained that finding a solution for the striker is part of Monaco's plans for the upcoming transfer window. A potential sale would also give Monaco more flexibility to keep important players such as Lamine Camara and Aleksandr Golovin until the end of the season.

Balogun's Departure Is a Priority for Monaco

The situation is not solely related to sporting matters. Monaco need to balance their finances after failing to complete some of the deals planned during the summer and have financial commitments related to the DNCG, the organization responsible for overseeing the finances of French clubs.

Scuro acknowledged that the club's plans for the previous transfer window could not be completed as expected. Balogun's continued presence also prevented the club from having greater flexibility to strengthen other areas of the squad.

The American striker had been very close to returning to England. Everton emerged as a possible destination, and Balogun even traveled to Liverpool to undergo a medical examination before completing the move.

The deal ultimately fell through during the final hours of the transfer window. According to Scuro, Balogun did not feel comfortable proceeding with the transfer after Everton's medical staff raised concerns regarding his physical condition.
