Marseille Lets A Golden Opportunity Slip Away
Olympique de Marseille, led by Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, let a key victory in the Ligue 1 title race slip away on Wednesday after conceding a stoppage-time goal in a 2-2 draw against Angers, with Malian defender Ousmane Camara finding the net in the 96th minute.
Despite coming off a 2-1 loss to Lens, Marseille failed to take advantage of Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-1 draw against Lorient earlier in the day. The result leaves PSG still top with 21 points, followed by Monaco with 20, and Marseille in third with 19.
Sidiki Cherif opened the scoring in the 25th minute for Angers, who currently sit 15th in the standings. However, De Zerbi’s side reacted in time thanks to a Robinio Vaz brace that turned the game around. Yet, with only seconds left, Camara struck to seal a dramatic draw.
