Paris Saint-Germain brought forward their Matchday 22 fixture in Ligue 1 with an eye on the upcoming Champions League playoffs, but suffered a 3-1 defeat against Rennes, inspired by goalkeeper Brice Samba.
Despite the setback, Luis Enrique’s side remain at the top of the French league standings.
Brice Samba shines against PSG
Brice Samba proved decisive, showcasing why he is a regular presence in France’s national team squads. The goalkeeper denied several PSG efforts and stood firm against sustained attacking pressure.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, and Désiré Doué struggled to convert their chances, although Dembélé did manage to score as PSG attempted a comeback that ultimately fell short.
Rennes secured the win through goals from Mousa Al-Tamari, Esteban Lepaul, and Breel Embolo, moving firmly into the race for European qualification.

PSG remain leaders and turn focus to Champions League
Even with the defeat, PSG hold a two-point advantage over Lens at the top of Ligue 1.
They now shift attention to their first-leg Champions League playoff clash against AS Monaco on Tuesday, before returning to league action against Metz, currently bottom of the table.
