Mascherano Comments on De Paul Rumors: ‘Top Players Always Catch Our Eye’
The Inter Miami coach spoke about Rodrigo De Paul, praised his quality, and gave a cautious response regarding a possible transfer.
Javier Mascherano, current head coach of Inter Miami, stated on Friday that “top players always catch our eye” when asked about the potential interest in Rodrigo De Paul, midfielder of Atlético Madrid. However, he clarified that he doesn’t like to talk about players “who belong to another club” and that he knows “absolutely nothing” about any potential deal.
“There’s nothing official regarding De Paul, I’ve only seen what’s been reported in the media. He’s a player from another team, and obviously I don’t like speaking about players under contract elsewhere. If something were to happen in the future, I’d have no problem commenting on it,” said Mascherano during the press conference ahead of the MLS match against Nashville.
“He’s a player with great pedigree, a World Cup winner with Argentina, and has been playing in Europe for a long time. We always like good players, but I can’t say more than that because I genuinely don’t know anything,” he added.
No Clarity on Messi's Availability Against Nashville
Mascherano is preparing Inter Miami for a tough away match at GEODIS Park in Nashville, but did not give any clear updates about Lionel Messi's potential presence in the starting eleven.
“With Leo, we’ll evaluate what’s best for the team, always in conversation with him. It’s not just about his rotation, but also about the older players on the roster,” said the Argentine coach.
“You’ve seen it this season—whenever he hasn’t felt at his best, we’ve made the effort to rest and protect him. As long as he’s feeling good and we can manage his load, we’ll continue like that,” Mascherano concluded.
