Columbus Crew striker Chase Adams described his first goal for the club as "surreal", but insisted he was more focused on the result.

Adams scored in the Crew's 3-1 defeat to Charlotte FC last time out, seeing him become the club's youngest-ever scorer (18 years and 120 days).

Despite reaching the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, Columbus have won just one of their last four MLS games (D1 L2), leaving them 11th in the Eastern Conference.

The Crew host fellow strugglers CF Montreal next, and Adams wants to help his side get back in the win column.

"It's surreal. It's what I've been trying to get to since I've come to Columbus,” Adams said about his first goal for the Crew.

"Obviously, not being from here, being able to get trusted by the club to move here and be able to grow as a player and as a person with them and being able to start was a moment I won't forget the rest of my life.

"And then being able to score as well, I don't know if something's going to top that, obviously.

"But unfortunate, I think the main goal for all of us, though, was the result before any other record. So, that's what I'm more focused on."

Montreal are 14th in the East, three points behind Columbus ahead of their meeting at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field on Wednesday.

Montreal were held to a 1-1 draw by D.C. United last weekend, despite taking the lead through a Prince Owusu penalty.

Adams became the third-youngest player in Crew history to start a regular-season match. Danny Szetela was 17 years and 117 days, while Taha Habroune was 18 years and 68 days.

In the defeat to Charlotte, Adams led his Columbus team-mates in shots (four) and recorded the second-most touches in the box (eight), while winning 100% of his duels (2/2).

CF Montreal – Prince Owusu

Owusu scored his 11th MLS goal of the season last time out as he leads Montreal for both goals and assists (six) this year.

The 29-year-old put in a stunning display against D.C. United, creating a game-high five chances to go along with his six shots and 14 touches in the box (both game-highs).

Columbus have a strong record against Montreal, with their last defeat in this fixture coming back in August 2022.

The Crew are unbeaten in seven games against Montreal (W4 D3), though their last meeting in May 2025 ended in a 1-1 draw at Saputo Stadium.

Although Columbus are 11th in the East, they boast the seventh-best home record in the conference this season, picking up 14 points from nine such games.

Montreal, meanwhile, have the worst away record in the East, having won just four points in nine away games while conceding 25 goals.

In their last six league matches, Columbus have won two, drawn two and lost two. Montreal have drawn four and lost two in their last six.
