He Stays! Enzo Fernández Declares His Love for Chelsea
Faced with a mountain of rumors placing the Argentine outside of Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea, Enzo Fernández clarified and debunked the rumors about his possible future departure from the team after scoring the goal that sealed the victory for the 'Blues' against Crystal Palace.
In a chat with ESPN, Fernández stated that he feels happy and content to be with the London team along with his teammates and coaching staff, asserting that leaving the team is not in his plans.
"I don't know where these rumors came from. They had talked on social media, I think... I come out to completely deny that: I don't want to leave Chelsea, I'm very well here. I get along very well with my teammates, with the coaching staff, with the club's people," commented the Argentine.
Similarly, with a happiness evident on his face after contributing with a couple of stunning goals recently, Enzo Fernández analyzed the team's recent victory against Crystal Palace and the one last week against Aston Villa in the FA Cup. He affirmed that they are on the right track and that their goal is to be in the top positions because they want to play in the Champions League next year.
"It's a victory that means a lot to us; last week we had defeated Aston Villa in the FA Cup. We are finding our rhythm, changing our attitude above all, and obviously, this victory brings us confidence for what lies ahead."
"The Premier League is very demanding; there are many teams that play well, and you always have to be prepared. Throughout the season, we've had ups and downs in the Premier League that we haven't had in the Cup, and that's why right now we're a bit far from the top positions. But there's a long way to go; we trust in our work, in a new team, and day by day, we're working to achieve the goal. We want to play in the Champions League next year," affirmed the 23-year-old midfielder.
Chelsea will face Manchester City on Saturday, February 17, in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium. It will be a litmus test for the team, as well as for Enzo Fernández to demonstrate his commitment and reaffirm his statements to the fans, press, and coaching staff.
