Manchester United Keep Sinking, and Ruben Amorim Delivers a Harsh Reflection
Manchester United suffered another Premier League defeat, this time against Tottenham (0-1) on Matchday 25. The Red Devils, far from finding consistency, continue to pile up poor results and are drifting further away from the European spots. Facing a more effective London side, Ruben Amorim's team failed to capitalize on their chances and ended up conceding another defeat that pushes them even deeper down the table.
The Old Trafford side now sits in 15th place, far below expectations for a club of its history and prestige. After the match, Ruben Amorim did not hide his frustration and was blunt in his analysis. “It was difficult. We created many chances but didn't score. In the end, they got a goal, and we didn’t—that made the difference,” lamented the Portuguese coach, whose team has now lost eight of their last twelve league matches.
Amorim acknowledged that his team showed more attacking creativity than in previous games but insisted that their lack of finishing continues to cost them. “There were matches where we didn’t even create chances. Today, we generated opportunities, but in a game where both teams weren’t at their best, one goal was always going to be decisive,” he analyzed. He also mentioned the absence of key players such as Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, and Manuel Ugarte, who were unavailable due to injury.
Visibly frustrated, the Portuguese coach admitted that the team’s situation is becoming increasingly difficult. “I have many problems. My job here is very, very tough. In one week, we lost so many players, and sometimes it feels like nothing goes our way,” Amorim expressed. However, he assured that he remains committed to his ideas and has no intention of giving up.

Despite the crisis, the manager sent an optimistic message and urged his team to focus on what’s ahead. “We must focus on the next match and leave the past behind. Today it hurts—losing so many matches is tough—but we can change everything in a week,” he stated. Manchester United will now look to bounce back next weekend against Everton, a match that could be crucial for their season.
