Rodri Returns to Training With Manchester City
The Spanish midfielder is racing against time to reappear at the end of the season and dreams of playing in the FA Cup final and the FIFA Club World Cup with Manchester City.
Long-Awaited Return to Sky Blues Training
Rodrigo Hernández, midfielder for Manchester City, returned to full team training this week, aiming to feature before the end of the season. The Spanish international suffered a serious ACL injury last September during a match against Arsenal, and although it was initially feared he would miss the entire campaign, he remained hopeful of being ready in time for the Club World Cup.
In recent sessions, Rodri has trained alongside his teammates, providing a major boost for the 'Sky Blues.' However, caution remains the priority. “He’s training with us and doing very well, but I don't know when he’ll be ready. That will depend on the medical staff,” explained Pep Guardiola during his press conference.
Between the FA Cup and the Club World Cup
Manchester City still have several challenges ahead as the season winds down. In addition to the Premier League title race, Guardiola’s men are close to securing a spot in the FA Cup final. Should they defeat Nottingham Forest in the semifinals, they would play for the trophy on May 17 against the winner of the match between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
If Rodri is unable to return in time for the FA Cup final or the Premier League's final matchday on May 25, he could still make his comeback at the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14. The Spaniard dreams of closing his challenging season by competing once again at the highest level, bringing his leadership back to the heart of Manchester City’s midfield.
