Aston Villa has lost the appeal against the red card received by Colombian player Jhon Durán, who will now miss the next three matches.

Durán was sent off with a direct red card after falling and accidentally planting his boot on the back of Newcastle United’s Fabian Schär.

The club filed an appeal, arguing that it was an unfortunate and unintentional play. However, Villa confirmed this Friday that the appeal was rejected, and the Colombian will have to serve a three-match suspension.

"Aston Villa can confirm that our decision to appeal Jhon Durán's red card has been dismissed. The player will miss the next three matches," the club stated in an official release.

Durán, who had started in the last four Premier League matches, will now miss games against Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City, and the FA Cup clash against West Ham United.
