VIDEO | Alexis Mac Allister sees Liverpool winning everything
Alexis Mac Allister, midfielder for Liverpool, stated that "there is a possibility" of winning the poker of titles this season and bidding farewell to Jürgen Klopp, who will leave in June.
The Argentine lifted his first title with Liverpool this Sunday, winning the League Cup against Chelsea, and then spoke to Spanish media at Wembley, including EFE.
"It's a great joy to win my first title with Liverpool. It's something I said from day one, that I wanted to win trophies here, so I'm very happy. Today was a very tough match, but I'm very pleased with how we did it; we have many injured players, and still, the 18, 19-year-olds went out there and showed why they play for Liverpool. They have a quality and a very important personality," said Mac Allister about the teenagers who had to step up due to the eleven injuries in the first team that the 'Reds' have.
"We see them every day and know the quality they have. Then there's the other part, the personality, and when you enter a field with 90,000 people, it's not so easy, and they did very well. Jürgen gives them confidence, and if they're here, it's because they have that ability."
This is the first of the four titles that Liverpool could win this season, in addition to the Premier League, where they lead with a one-point advantage over Manchester City, the FA Cup, where they are in the fifth round, and the Europa League, where they will play in the round of 32 against Sparta Prague.
"The whole group is motivated by it," Mac Allister said about the possibility of dedicating the four titles to Klopp. "These are news we didn't expect, and since that day, we set out to make this year a very special one. Starting it with a title is very important."
"To be honest, from day one, I saw a very good group. Very good people. There are many people who want to do things well and win, because that's why we're here. Everything that happens brings us together, makes us stronger. To win things, we have to take it game by game and do on the field what we want. We'll go for everything. We know how difficult it is, but if we go game by game, there's a chance."
The Argentine arrived this summer from Brighton & Hove Albion and at Liverpool, he has had to adapt to a new position.
"I feel like I've grown a lot, but that's also thanks to my teammates and the coaching staff. They're the ones who give me confidence and help me improve every day. The most important improvement is changing positions and starting to play as a six. I've improved a lot defensively. Playing in different positions is the best thing I've learned."
