Amorim could not make Rashford 'see the way you're supposed to play football'
Ruben Amorim could not see eye-to-eye with Marcus Rashford, who has left Manchester United to join Aston Villa on loan.
Ruben Amorim explained he could not get Marcus Rashford "to see football in the way you're supposed to".
Rashford left Manchester United in the winter transfer window after falling out of favour with Amorim, who took charge in November.
The England international has joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to making the move permanent.
Rashford netted the opening goal of Amorim's tenure at United, in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town, though the Red Devils boss could just not see eye-to-eye with the 27-year-old.
"I couldn't [get] Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it," Amorim said.
"It's something that you feel as a coach and as a player. It's quite normal. It happened with a lot of coaches.
"The important thing is that I'm here saying that was my decision."
However, Amorim is hoping Rashford clicks for Unai Emery at Villa.
"Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different," the former Sporting CP boss added.
"I just wish the best to Rashford and to Emery, and they can connect because he's a very good player."
Rashford has scored seven goals in all competitions this season, outperforming his 4.45 expected goals.
He has averaged a goal every 214 minutes.
