Aston Villa have confirmed the arrival of three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain on loan for the rest of the 2024-25 season. 

Asensio becomes Unai Emery's fourth signing of the January window, having already welcomed Marcus Rashford, Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia to Villa Park. 

The 29-year-old arrives at the club with great pedigree, having lifted 20 major honours during his career, which includes three LaLiga titles during his time with Real Madrid.

Asensio made 286 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, scoring 61 goals and registering 32 assists before making the move to PSG in 2023. 

The Spaniard missed the start of the 2023-24 campaign with a foot injury but went on to feature 31 times under Luis Enrique, but has struggled for game time this term. 

Asensio has made just 12 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, eight of which have been from the start, but he has only had 18 minutes of league action since November. 

Villa will reportedly cover the 29-year-old's wages but do not have an option to make the move permanent once it expires at the end of the campaign. 

Asensio could make his debut in Villa's FA Cup clash against Tottenham on Sunday, with Ipswich Town his potential opponents on his Premier League bow.
