Fulham 2-0 Tottenham: Super subs Muniz and Sessegnon mark Silva's milestone match
Marco Silva had plenty of reasons to celebrate his 200th Premier League match, thanks to two of his substitutes against Tottenham.
Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon did the damage as Fulham boosted their European hopes with a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham.
Sunday’s London derby failed to offer much in the way of goalmouth action until midway through the second half, when Dominic Solanke and then Willian went close.
Solanke should have done better from close range, before Willian curled just wide of the right-hand upright.
Yet Fulham settled the contest in their favour with two strikes in the closing stages, both from substitutes.
Muniz broke the deadlock with a neat first-time finish and, 10 minutes later, Sessegnon curled in a sublime strike just 57 seconds after coming on, securing the points for Marco Silva on the occasion of his 200th Premier League match.
Silva's side climb to eighth place and within four points of the top four, having gone unbeaten against Spurs in three straight Premier League games for the first time since 2009.
Data Debrief: Silva's super subs strike again
Silva became the second Portuguese coach to oversee 200 Premier League matches, after Jose Mourinho.
The Fulham boss was thankful to his bench for being able to mark the landmark in style, with not much to separate the teams before that - indeed, the overall expected goals battle tells its own story, with Fulham registering chances worth 0.99 xG to Spurs' 0.98.
Muniz and Sessegnon's strikes mean the Cottagers have scored 13 Premier League goals via substitutes this season, more than any other side.
Meanwhile, games immediately prior to international breaks have become something of a bugbear in recent times for Spurs, who have now lost each of their last six such matches in the Premier League.
