Isak and Nuno scoop Premier League awards for December
The Premier League have recognised the exploits of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Alexander Isak has been named the Premier League's Player of the Month for December.
The in-form Newcastle United striker scored eight goals and provided two assists during the month, in which he found the net in all six of his appearances.
The Sweden international bagged a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, while he was also on target against Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Isak is the fourth Swedish player to win the award after Freddie Ljungberg (April 2002), Johan Elmander (November 2010) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (December 2016).
The 25-year-old scored his 50th Newcastle goal in just 89 appearances during their EFL Cup win over Arsenal on Tuesday.
That made him the third-quickest player to reach half a century for the Magpies during the Premier League era, with only Andrew Cole (50) and Les Ferdinand (84) taking fewer matches.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo scooped the Manager of the Month accolade.
The Portuguese won the award for the second time in three months, after guiding Forest to third place in the Premier League following a run of six straight victories.
Nuno was named the Premier League's Manager of the Month for the sixth time in his managerial career, matching Bobby Robson and Sam Allardyce, with only nine managers now triumphant on more occasions.
"I have to thank the players who go out there and give their all for this club," he said. "Ultimately, this is recognition for their performances.
"We also have to thank everyone at the club for the support and ambition they show, starting with our owner, Mr Marinakis, all the way through to every member of staff. Finally, we cannot thank our fans enough for their magnificent support."
