Arteta clears up doubts about his continuity
Mikel Arteta, the current Arsenal coach, decided to put an end to the speculation about his future at the club. Despite entering the final year of his contract, the Spaniard assured that he is "extremely happy" in London and has no plans to leave. The message comes at a crucial moment, after the Gunners ended a 22-year drought by winning the Premier League last season, surpassing Manchester City in a thrilling conclusion.
A successful and growing cycle
Since his arrival in December 2019, Arteta has managed 353 matches, with 213 victories, 67 draws, and 73 losses. Under his leadership, Arsenal won an FA Cup title and two Community Shields, in addition to reaching their second Champions League final in history. The 44-year-old coach also has a positive record in the Community Shield, he won both editions as a player (2014 and 2015) and both he contested as a coach (2020 and 2023), both decided by penalties. Next Sunday, he will have the opportunity to add another trophy against City.
Message of calm for fans and officials
Co-chairman Josh Kroenke had indicated in May that renewing Arteta's contract was a priority. However, the coach remained calm: "They [the fans] don't have to worry about any of that because I want to be here, I am extremely happy, and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with. When we have the opportunity, we will resolve the contract issue. That's all." Additionally, he added: "Everyone feels comfortable with the timing of the negotiation because my will is to be here and I am very happy. My feeling from the club is the same, that's why everything is happening organically."
