Newcastle United 1-4 Bournemouth: Kluivert hat-trick halts hosts' winning streak
Justin Kluivert scored a sensational hat-trick at St James' Park, 20 years after father Patrick played here for Newcastle United.
Justin Kluivert scored a hat-trick as Bournemouth brought Newcastle United's nine-match winning streak to a halt with a 4-1 victory at St James' Park.
The Cherries midfielder produced a man-of-the-match display against the club where his father Patrick played during the 2004-05 season.
Kluivert opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a neat first-time finish, and restored the visitors' lead just before half-time after Bruno Guimaraes headed in Newcastle's equaliser.
The Netherlands international hammered in a third with a brilliant long-range strike in stoppage time, while Milos Kerkez rounded off a swift counter to add a fourth before the end.
That extended Bournemouth's unbeaten streak to 10 league games, as they won at St James' Park for the first time in five attempts.
Andoni Iraola's side climb to sixth place in the Premier League table and within a point of the Magpies, who remain fourth after missing the chance to leapfrog third-place Nottingham Forest.
Data Debrief: Hat-trick hero Kluivert matches Suarez and Kane
Kluivert was the hat-trick hero at St James' Park, 20 years and 115 days after his father scored his only league for Newcastle on this ground.
Following his hat-trick of penalties at Molineux at the end of November, the midfielder became only the seventh Premier League player to score two hat-tricks away from home in the same season.
That exclusive club also includes Ian Wright, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Luis Suarez, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
He also followed in the footsteps of Ruud van Nistelrooy (five), Robin van Persie (five) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as one of four Dutchmen to score multiple trebles in the Premier League.
As for Newcastle, who had been seeking a record-breaking 10th straight victory in all competitions, they lost by three or more goals at home for only the second time in the division during Howe's tenure.
