Tottenham 1-2 Nottingham Forest: Anderson and Wood lift Nuno's side back to third place
Nottingham Forest boosted their Champions League ambitions by battling past Tottenham to regain third place with five games remaining.
Nottingham Forest returned to third place in the Premier League following a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
First-half goals from Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood were enough to get Nuno Espirito Santo's side back to winning ways, despite the hosts dominating for large periods at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Anderson's deflected strike opened the scoring in the fifth minute after Spurs failed to deal with a corner, while Wood headed his 19th league goal of the season to double Forest's lead in the 16th minute.
Spurs responded well and were on top throughout the remainder of the contest, with Harry Toffolo's superb acrobatic clearance notably denying Dejan Kulusevski.
They eventually made their dominance count with Richarlison's header halving the deficit three minutes from time, but it proved too late as they suffered a fourth defeat in five league games.
Forest leapfrog Newcastle United, Manchester City and Chelsea to boost their Champions League qualification hopes, while Ange Postecoglou's side remain 16th.
Data Debrief: Forest strike first once more
Forest have completed their first league double over Tottenham since the 1996-97 season, with their victory built on hitting the front in yet another Premier League game.
Nuno's side have opened the scoring in a league-high 24 games this season, while Spurs have not won a league game when trailing by two or more goals at half-time since beating Arsenal in November 2010.
Postecoglou's team have collected just 18 points since beating Manchester City 4-0 on November 23, with only the bottom three sides recording fewer during that time.
