Arsenal must be "perfect" to overthrow Liverpool in the Premier League title race, says Leandro Trossard.

Mikel Arteta's side trail leaders Liverpool by four points heading into Saturday's action, when Arne Slot's men visit Brentford before Arsenal host Aston Villa later on.

Liverpool still boast a game in hand, a rearranged Merseyside derby with Everton next month, leaving Slot's side with the title race in their control.

Trossard acknowledged that Arsenal cannot afford any slip-ups, as was the case against Manchester City in the last two seasons, if they are to secure top-flight glory.

"You need to be perfect every season," Trossard told Sky Sports.

"Over the last four or five seasons it's been such a tight race. Everyone is competing, it's not just the teams that are at the top of the table, everyone is getting better each season, so it's getting more competitive.

"You have to be at your [A] game every single matchday. It's hard, but we just need to keep believing and be ourselves, then we can achieve something."

Injuries issues have proved troublesome for Arteta throughout the 2024-25 season, with Bukayo Saka still sidelined and Gabriel Jesus joining him after an ACL injury.

"The injuries are a big blow for us," former Brighton forward Trossard added. "We know what Bukayo [Saka] has shown for the club and Gabriel Jesus was on a good run, those injuries are bad luck.

"We hope we can be ready in the meantime. It's up to us to be ready."

Saka and Jesus' injury may see Trossard pushed into a more central position, although Raheem Sterling came in on the right for last Sunday's 2-1 win against rivals Tottenham.

The Belgium international, who scored in that win against Spurs, is content to do whatever Arteta desires as Arsenal deal with an injury-hit campaign.

"We've had to twist some things because of the injuries, so everyone gets their chance," Trossard continued.

"Of course, I'm always happy [to fill in up front]. I'm always ready to play in whatever position on the pitch."
