Álvaro Morata Close to Signing with Galatasaray
Spanish striker Álvaro Morata is about to finalize his transfer to Galatasaray in Turkey, a team he will join in the coming hours from Milan, the club he signed with just six months ago.
According to Italian media, negotiations between all parties are already closed, and the arrival of Santiago Giménez at the Italian club was key to greenlighting the deal. This transfer will be completed under the formula of a loan with an obligatory purchase option, totaling around 15 million euros.
Morata is expected to fly to Istanbul this Saturday, while Giménez heads to Milan to finalize his move from the Dutch Feyenoord. Interestingly, both players will be involved in the upcoming Champions League clash of the ‘rossoneri’.
Morata, captain of the European Champion Spanish National Team, arrived at Milan for 13 million euros, with a contract until 2028. However, the club's instability, having had two managers this year, and the ongoing search for another striker influenced his decision to leave.
Moreover, it’s reported that his relationship with new manager Sergio Conceição was another key factor in Morata's decision to leave the club. During his time at Milan, Morata scored 6 goals in 24 appearances.
At Galatasaray, Morata will share the locker room with Nigerian Victor Osimhen, who is still owned by Napoli.
On the other hand, Giménez's injury complicates Milan's plans, as they will approach the upcoming derby against Inter Milan without a starting forward, with Englishman Tammy Abraham as the main reference in attack.
