Juventus bolster defensive ranks with Kelly loan signing from Newcastle
After losing defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal to long-term injury issues, Juventus have welcomed Lloyd Kelly on loan.
Lloyd Kelly has completed a sensational loan switch to Juventus for the rest of the 2024-25 season just eight months after joining Newcastle United from Bournemouth.
The deal includes an obligation for the Serie A side to buy Kelly for a reported €14.5million fee subject to the achievement of certain sporting objectives.
Since Kelly made the switch to St. James' Park last June, he featured 14 times across all competitions, only four of which came from the start under Eddie Howe.
His last appearance for the Magpies came in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, replacing Lewis Hall for the final three minutes against the Cottagers.
Kelly bolsters Thiago Motta's defence for the remainder of the Serie A season, having lost defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal to long-term injury issues.
"Arriving from Newcastle United in the English Premier League, Kelly brings with him experience, physicality, aerial strength and a solid defensive reading of the game," Juventus said in a statement.
Juventus, who have also signed Portugal defender Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, travel to Como for a Serie A clash on Friday.
