Luciano Spalletti in Juventus’ Sights After Igor Tudor’s Departure
Juventus are searching for a new manager after parting ways with Igor Tudor, and former Napoli and Italy boss Luciano Spalletti has emerged as the leading candidate, with talks reportedly already underway.
Juventus Move Quickly After Tudor’s Dismissal
Juventus wasted no time reacting to the dismissal of Igor Tudor, who was sacked after an eight-game winless streak that ended with a 1-0 loss to Lazio. The Croatian coach, who took over in March and guided the team to Champions League qualification, was unable to maintain consistency this season, leading club officials to make a decisive move.
In the meantime, Massimo Brambilla, coach of the club’s Next Gen side, will serve as interim manager for the midweek Serie A fixture against Udinese. However, the Turin giants are eager to secure a permanent replacement soon — and all signs point toward Luciano Spalletti taking the helm.
According to Calciomercato, the former Napoli and Italy coach is open to returning to club management after leaving the national team earlier this year. With his tactical expertise and strong track record in Italian football, Spalletti fits perfectly into Juventus’ vision of rebuilding stability and identity after several seasons of managerial changes.
Spalletti Emerges as Juventus’ Top Candidate
Initial talks between Juventus and Spalletti’s camp have reportedly already begun, with discussions being handled through an intermediary. Italian media reports suggest the 66-year-old coach is “open and enthusiastic” about the opportunity to take charge in Turin, although contract length could still be a point of negotiation.
The club has proposed an initial six-month deal with an option to extend based on performance, while Spalletti is said to prefer an 18-month contract. Despite the difference, both parties are reportedly optimistic about reaching an agreement soon.
The Italian tactician boasts an impressive résumé: he guided Napoli to their first Scudetto in over three decades during the 2022-23 season and previously managed Roma and Inter Milan. His attacking philosophy and ability to develop young talent align with Juventus’ new direction under sporting director Damien Comolli.
Other Names on the Shortlist
While Spalletti remains the favorite, Juventus are also evaluating other candidates. Among them are Roberto Mancini, who is currently without a club after leaving the Italy national team, and Raffaele Palladino, a former Juve player who last managed Fiorentina and represents a more budget-friendly option.
Additional names like Daniele De Rossi, Xavi Hernández, and Edin Terzić are also being considered, though insiders insist that Spalletti remains the clear frontrunner. His potential appointment could mark the beginning of a new era for the Bianconeri, as they seek to reestablish themselves among Europe’s elite.
