Motta: More to come from Kolo Muani at Juventus
Randal Kolo Muani scored his fifth Serie A goal for Juventus against Como on Friday, but Thiago Motta is confident the striker can improve.
Thiago Motta urged Randal Kolo Muani to keep his feet on the ground as his fine start to life at Juventus continued in their victory over Como.
Kolo Muani, who joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, scored twice to earn Motta's side a 2-1 win at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Friday.
The Frenchman has now scored five goals in three Serie A appearances, becoming the first player to net five or more times in his first three outings in the three points per win era in the Italian top-flight (from 1994-95).
Kolo Muani also scored more than one goal in the same away match for only the second time in his career when playing in the top five European leagues, last scoring a brace away from home against Dijon in Ligue 1 back in May 2021.
Against Como, Kolo Muani registered a team-high expected goals (xG) total of 0.88, while also recording more shots on target (two) than anyone for Motta's side.
"He's in good form, he scores goals, but he is sure he can do better," Motta told Sky Sports.
"He needs to keep his feet on the ground and continue to work. There are other things, apart from goals, that a forward needs to do.
"He is helping, like all the others, everyone had their moment and their characteristics. The squad will keep getting better."
Kolo Muani had been out of favour at PSG, starting on just two of his 10 appearances under Luis Enrique in Ligue 1 during the 2024-25 campaign.
The 26-year-old opened the season with two goals in three games but then just featured for just 236 minutes of top-flight action before making the move to Turin.
Kolo Muani is now relishing this new lease of life in Italy, and could not have hoped for a better beginning.
"It's a dream for me. I'm very happy to be here and with this start, I'm very happy to be at Juventus," Kolo Muani said.
"For me, it is really important to always play to win. We are very happy to have succeeded tonight against Como. Now we head to the next one."
Friday's win lifted Juventus above Lazio and Fiorentina and in to fourth in the Serie A standings, but they were perhaps fortunate to emerge victorious against Como.
Cesc Fabregas' side dominated the first half, registering an xG of 0.67 from their nine shots while also restricting Juventus to just three efforts at Jean Butez's goal.
Assane Diao's equaliser in first-half stoppage time was the least Como deserved for their display, but Motta was happy with how his side found a way to win after the interval.
"Playing against Como today is not easy, and it wasn't for anyone. They play good football and put you in difficulty," Motta said.
"We were careful and played the game we had to play to get the victory. I'm happy, especially for the boys who deserved it."
