Torino 0-1 Napoli: McTominay strike earns Serie A leaders away win
Napoli extended their lead at the top of Serie A to four points with a victory at Torino on Sunday.
Scott McTominay's first-half strike was enough to earn Serie A leaders Napoli a 1-0 victory away to Torino on Sunday.
The result left them four points clear at the top of the table, while Torino are 12th in the table just four points above the relegation zone.
The match itself was a straightforward one for the visitors, despite the tight scoreline, with them registering 1.44 xG and 16 shots compared to 0.26 xG and five shots from the hosts.
McTominay broke the stalemate with a moment of quality in the 31st minute, having received a wonderful pass from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The second half was comfortable for the league leaders, who could have extended their lead after chances fell to Romelu Lukaku and Mathias Olivera.
Data debrief: Torino's dreadful run continues while Napoli march on
Torino's defeat here saw them drop further towards the relegation picture in Serie A, with it having been their seventh in nine league matches (W1 D1).
As a result, they are now just four points ahead of third-bottom Como ahead of a trip to midtable Genoa next weekend.
Napoli, meanwhile, opened a four-point gap between themselves and second-placed Atalanta, who play on Monday.
