Galatasaray secured their first victory of the Süper Lig season, and they did it in convincing fashion. The Turkish champions defeated Erzurumspor FK 4-0 away from home on Matchday 2, with Victor Osimhen once again stealing the spotlight.
(Video): Galatasaray make a statement in Erzurum!
The Nigerian striker scored a brace and has now reached four goals in just two league matches. Two games, two braces. A spectacular start for the player who continues to make the difference in Okan Buruk’s attack.
The result also allowed Gala to respond after their 2-2 draw against Çorum FK in the season opener.
Erzurumspor Press, but Galatasaray Strike First
The opening stages were not easy for the visitors.
Erzurumspor FK came out with intensity, tried to establish themselves in the opposition half and enjoyed more of the ball during the opening minutes. Galatasaray needed some time to settle into the match and find space.
Once they did, they started causing problems.
Barış Alper Yılmaz became one of the main outlets with his speed, looking to break lines and connect with Osimhen.
The opening goal arrived in the 11th minute.
Following a corner kick, Roland Sallai took advantage of a rebound inside the penalty area and sent the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
From that moment on, the champions began to look much more comfortable.
Galatasaray found their second goal on a quick transition. After an Erzurumspor mistake in midfield, Victor Osimhen burst forward into space before laying the ball off to Yunus Akgün, who finished the move to double the advantage.
Gala did not need to dominate every minute of the match. Whenever they found space, they simply punished their opponent.

Osimhen Takes Advantage of the Gift
With the score at 2-0, Galatasaray slowed things down.
Buruk’s team began moving the ball patiently, knowing their advantage would force the hosts to take more risks.
The match appeared to be heading into halftime without further damage, but in the 44th minute, Erzurumspor handed Galatasaray a gift they simply could not waste.
Yakup Kırtay attempted to play the ball back to Matija Orbanić, but his pass came up short. The goalkeeper rushed out in desperation, allowing Osimhen to take advantage of the mistake and score the 3-0 goal.
It was the Nigerian’s third goal of the season, and the match was practically over before halftime.
Two Games, Two Braces for Osimhen
Erzurumspor came out for the second half needing an early goal to bring some life back into the match.
But Galatasaray never lost control.
The speed of their forwards continued to cause problems, while the champions managed their advantage without needing to expose themselves. The hosts searched for ways into the penalty area but repeatedly found a well-organized opponent.
Their best opportunity arrived in the 77th minute.
Nariman Akhundzade found space on a quick break and got a clear look at goal, but his effort hit the side netting.
And just two minutes later, one of soccer’s oldest sayings came true: if you don’t take your chances, your opponent will.
In the 79th minute, Gabriel Sara delivered a cross into the penalty area and Victor Osimhen was there to score his second of the afternoon and make it 4-0.
Another brace.
The Nigerian now has four goals in two Süper Lig matches, after also scoring twice against Çorum in the season opener.
Galatasaray needed a response after dropping points at home, and they delivered one in emphatic fashion.
The champions collect their first three points of the season, secure their first victory and leave Erzurum with a commanding win.
But above all, they leave with one certainty.
Victor Osimhen has started the season on fire.
