Kvaratskhelia confident in PSG's comeback against Liverpool in the Champions League
Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia insisted on Monday that the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool is completely balanced and that PSG’s dominant display in the first leg "was no easy task." The Parisians must overturn a 0-1 deficit from last week’s match, where they fired 28 shots, forced Alisson Becker into nine saves, and still failed to score—conceding late to a Harvey Elliott strike.
Belief in the comeback
"It's a 50-50 chance," the Georgian stated in a press conference. "Dominating a team like Liverpool isn’t easy, and we played a great game in the first leg. The goal is to play the same way in Paris. Anfield will be tougher, but anything is possible. We have to trust in our style and show we’re here to win."
The former Napoli star emphasized that Tuesday's match is "the most important of the season." "Football was a bit unfair to us in the first leg. We were disappointed, but the next day we analyzed the match and know we must repeat that performance," said Kvaratskhelia, who also expressed how comfortable he feels under Luis Enrique since his January move from the Italian club.
For the Georgian attacker, playing for PSG requires a winning mentality, and the Champions League remains the ultimate goal. "Our mindset is to win tomorrow. I love playing attractive football, but the most important thing is scoring goals and winning games. We know what to expect from Anfield, but we’ll have plenty of our fans there backing us. The key is to stay focused from the first minute," he concluded.
