Real Madrid vs Barcelona in the Champions League Final? Here's What Flick Said
The coach of Barcelona shared his first impressions regarding the Champions League draw.
With the round of 16 draw set and the path to the final in Munich scheduled for May 31, Real Madrid and Barcelona now know they could face each other in a hypothetical final. A match that has never happened in history.

Real Madrid and Barcelona could fight for the treble in one month.
Hansi Flick has been asked about this situation. But, for now, the coach of Barcelona sees this possibility as very distant. “First, we need to get to the final. That's the goal, and there’s a long way to go. First, we have to face Benfica, which is a good team,” said the coach of Barcelona while finishing preparations for his next match in LaLiga against Las Palmas.
Coincidentally, there could be a chance that Real Madrid and Barcelona compete for the treble in one month of competition. On April 26, the Copa del Rey final will take place, and both could meet in the final. The same goes for the Champions League on May 31. And, in between, they play in LaLiga, with everything still up for grabs.
Barcelona's path to the Champions League final
Flick is aware that the road is long… although he breathes easy knowing that his team has been the most fortunate in the Champions League draw. In the round of 16, Barcelona will face an old rival that they already beat this season, Benfica. In the quarterfinals, it could be Borussia Dortmund or Lille. In the semifinals, things get complicated: Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Feyenoord, or Inter Milan.
Still, Hansi Flick is only focused on his next opponent. He wants to take it step by step. “I think it's a tough match. Benfica plays very well. They’re strong, and lately we see that they know their opponents very well. It’s not easy to face them. I don’t think it’s, by any means, an easy rival.”
