Bayern Munich forward Thomas Müller has said that Barcelona’s Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, is “the teammate” with whom he’s had “the most special connection” on the field.

Speaking to the 'Bild' newspaper, the iconic Bayern player—who holds the record for the most appearances in the club’s history—emphasized that this connection “won’t exist on Wednesday” when the Bavarians face the Catalans at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

“I’m not giving him any assists!” Müller joked, laughing about how he assisted 64 of the 344 goals Lewandowski scored at Bayern.

Another Bayern veteran, midfielder and right-back Joshua Kimmich, also weighed in on the Polish striker and the battle between him and England’s Harry Kane.

“You can’t directly compare Harry and Lewy. Harry really enjoys being involved in the play and can sometimes pull off a perfect ten-pass. Lewy is more focused on scoring goals himself. Both of them help their teams a lot with their own style,” Kimmich explained.

England’s captain, Harry Kane, also jumped on the praise train, calling Lewandowski “one of the best strikers” of his “generation.” “You always want to play against the best. Playing in Barcelona is always a big night in the Champions League. A lot of the guys know the coach very well. It’ll be a special match and a tough battle, but I hope we can make our mark on the game,” added the Brit.
