Vazquez ruled out of Real's Champions League clash at Man City
Real Madrid were dealt an injury blow ahead of their Champions League tie against Manchester City, with Lucas Vazquez now out of the clash.
Real Madrid have confirmed that Lucas Vazquez will miss their Champions League clash with Manchester City on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury.
Vazquez was replaced by Luka Modric in the 81st minute during their La Liga encounter with rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday, a game that ended 1-1.
The Spaniard has featured in 30 matches across all competitions this season, registering two goals and five assists in those appearances for Real.
And Vazquez's injury hands Carlo Ancelotti another defensive issue, with the likes of Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger also out.
Ahead of their clash at the Etihad Stadium, the LaLiga leaders only have Raul Asensio as a recognised centre-back, alongside full-backs Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy.
"Following tests carried out on Lucas Vazquez today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his left hamstring," Real said in a statement.
"He will not be in the squad to travel to Manchester," the Champions League holders added.
