VIDEO | Kroos injures Pedri: Medical report released
The Spanish midfielder suffered a tackle from Toni Kroos and had to be substituted in the 8th minute of the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Germany.
The Spanish player Pedro González "Pedri," a midfielder for Barcelona, had to be substituted in the 8th minute due to a left knee injury caused by a tackle from Toni Kroos during the Euro 2024 quarter-final match between Spain and Germany.
In an intense start to the game, where Marc Cucurella also felt the effects of the German team's aggression, Pedri suffered the worst of it with a hard tackle from Kroos that twisted his left knee. After trying to continue for a few minutes, he was unable to carry on.
The Canary Islander, who had the first chance of the match with a shot from the edge of the box, left the pitch with the score still 0-0. Visibly emotional and on the verge of tears, he was replaced by Dani Olmo. Upon reaching the bench, he received hugs from all his teammates.
English referee Anthony Taylor called the foul on Pedri but did not book Kroos.
Medical Update
After initial examinations conducted on Pedri in the locker room, the Spanish midfielder has been diagnosed with a knee sprain.
"The medical staff assess an MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) sprain in Pedri's left knee. Further tests are pending to determine the extent of the injury and rule out associated injuries," reported the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
