Messi vs. Neymar Clash Looms in CONMEBOL Qualifiers
Neymar Jr. is one step away from returning to the Brazil National Team. His excellent form with Santos brings him closer to a call-up, and everything suggests he could face Lionel Messi in the World Cup qualifiers in March.
Dorival Jr. Closely Watching Neymar
Brazil coach Dorival Jr. has been closely monitoring Neymar’s performance since his return to Santos. According to GloboEsporte, the coach plans to include him in the squad for the upcoming matches against Colombia (March 21) and Argentina (March 26).
In fact, his assistant Lucas Silvestre was present for Neymar's debut against Botafogo, and several members of the coaching staff have been observing Santos' training sessions. Dorival Jr. also attended the match against Noroeste to personally evaluate Neymar’s physical and footballing condition.
Neymar Shines on His Return to Santos
Since his return to Brazil, Neymar has shown he still has a lot to offer. In just six matches, he has registered three assists and two goals, accumulating over 430 minutes and establishing himself as the star player of Peixe.
A Possible Neymar vs. Messi Showdown
If the call-up is confirmed, Neymar could face Lionel Messi in an electrifying Brazil vs. Argentina match. It would be his first appearance for the national team since October 2023, when Brazil lost 2-0 to Uruguay.
Brazil has been struggling without Neymar. Vinicius Jr., touted as his successor, has not been able to perform for the national team the way he does at Real Madrid, and their early exit from the Copa América raised many questions.
