Hull 'showed we can fight' after hard-earned Coventry draw
Hull City earned what could prove a vital point towards their Championship survival quest, as they denied Coventry City at the MKM Stadium.
Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur feels the Tigers "showed we can fight" after holding play-off hopefuls Coventry City to a hard-earned 1-1 draw.
Abu Kamara's late equaliser ensured a share of the spoils for Ruben Selles' side, who moved three points clear of the Championship's relegation zone with four games remaining.
Pandur made several smart saves to deny Haji Wright during the first half, but was powerless to keep out Matt Grimes' deflected strike within a minute of the restart.
There was also an element of fortune in Hull's equaliser, as Kamara's curling effort ricocheted off Jay Dasilva before beating Bradley Collins at his near post.
Pandur made a strong save to prevent Milan van Ewijk from scoring a stoppage-time winner.
"We showed great spirit, which maybe we lacked in the last couple of games, but today we showed we can fight," he told Sky Sports. "We are not happy with a point, but it's okay.
"I need to be here for the team, and hopefully, I can keep playing like that to stay in the league."
Selles, speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, said: "Coventry have been particularly good since Frank [Lampard] took over, and we knew it would be a difficult game.
"We managed to be competitive, stayed in the game and created situations.
"The game management we showed for the goal we conceded is something we need to stop and eradicate from our game - hopefully forever - because it's costing us points.
"The team showed character in the second half. The subs made a big impact, and we managed to get the point and show we can be as competitive as anybody. I know what I have in my dressing room - they are competitors and doing everything for the club."
Coventry have now won just one of their last seven league games against Hull and missed the chance to go fifth and establish a five-point gap between themselves and seventh-place West Brom.
Lampard, who was serving a one-match touchline suspension, felt his side were worthy of all three points, but was full of praise for their display.
"At this stage of the season, you have to take a point and accept it, but we deserved more," he told BBC CWR. "Our play was really good, with just the end bit missing at times.
"Our defensive game in the first half was really good. They created one chance - other than that, there was no danger, and we created a number of chances, particularly at 1-0.
"I'm really happy with the players and disappointed for them that we didn't get three points. No disrespect to Hull, who are a good team, but we played like a team playing for the play-offs, and I enjoyed our performance."
Coventry finished with 14 shots and eight on target, while accumulating 1.13 expected goals, as they snapped a two-game losing streak on the road.
