Alisson has been hailed as the world's best goalkeeper by his Liverpool team-mate Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool's shot-stopper pulled off a string of superb saves to keep Paris Saint-Germain at bay and pave the way for Elliott to score an 87th-minute winner in a 1-0 victory for the Reds at the Parc des Princes.

It means Liverpool will head into next week's second leg at Anfield with the upper hand as Arne Slot's team aim to book their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

And though Elliott got the crucial goal, the youngster believes Alisson deserves all the credit.

"Full credit to the team, You could see that PSG became a bit tired towards the end and that was down to the team's work rate.

"They were creating many chances but thanks to [Alisson] and the defence we did it. It was down to me to put the opportunity away and thankfully it went in.

"No words [on Alisson's performance]. This guy is unbelievable. The best in the world. Every game he shows it, he keeps us in so many games.

"I had an opportunity to repay [him]. I don't know where we would be without him. Hopefully he can keep stopping them going in and we can keep finishing chances."

Alisson produced standout stops to deny Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele.

He was beaten when Kvaratskhelia curled home, but a marginal VAR call ruled the goal out.

In total, Alisson made nine saves, the most on record (from 2003-04) by a Liverpool goalkeeper in a single Champions League match.

Liverpool had just two shots to PSG's 27 – the joint-biggest negative difference in shots by a winning team on record (from 2003-04) in a Champions League knockout stage game.

"It was probably the performance of my life," said Alisson.

"The manager was telling us how hard it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we would have to be ready to suffer. We knew what was coming.

"We worked hard. We gave away so many chances, sometimes one v one but the biggest part of the chase is having someone make the player with the chance think a bit more.

"All the efforts the team put in makes my job easier. Then at the end Harvey coming in and scoring the goal, it is a great story for us. A great night."
