(VIDEO) Saquon Barkley’s Video Game Play that Highlights the New York Giants’ Biggest Mistake
Saquon Barkley pulled off what many consider to be a true video game play; it’s even hard to believe that the move executed by the Philadelphia Eagles player wasn't taken straight out of one of the Madden video game versions.
As the running back attempted to spin on his axis, he jumped backward to avoid a tackle from one of the Jacksonville Jaguars players... The rest is history: one of the best maneuvers in the entire history of the NFL.
Saquon Barkley’s play from different angles
This play, accompanied by a standout performance, was sure to grab attention, leading to a reaction from one of the best defensive players (and a division rival of the Philadelphia Eagles), Micah Parsons, who not only commented on Saquon Barkley's performance but also criticized the New York Giants organization for letting him go.
“Let’s just say thank you to the Giants for their stupidity” - Micah Parsons -
On his podcast, Parsons criticized the Giants for allowing Barkley to leave in free agency after the now-Eagles running back delivered an impressive performance against the Jaguars, rushing for 159 yards and scoring two touchdowns—one on the ground and another through the air.
Having played alongside Barkley at Penn State, Parsons described the situation as a “blessing in disguise” for Barkley while condemning the Giants’ “stupidity” regarding how events have unfolded.
“People can say this is vintage Saquon, but this was always who Saquon was,” Parsons said about Barkley. “Since I’ve known him at Penn State until now, I knew this was what he was capable of. For Saquon, this is a blessing in disguise just off the strength of people are seeing what you’re capable of when people appreciate you.”
Barkley demonstrated to the Giants and their front office just how significant a mistake it was to let him go when he rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 during his first game back at MetLife Stadium.
Parsons expressed his disapproval of Giants fans for their treatment of Barkley upon his return and directed further criticism at the team in his latest episode.
“The Giants did not appreciate him, and now the rest of the league is facing the consequences of the Giants’ stupidity. This is always who he was,” Parsons continued. “I don’t want to say he lost his confidence, but he probably lost confidence in the system. The people that are blocking for him. I mean what more can you say? The guy has been dynamic. He’s been worth the money and more.
