Jayden Daniels Doesn't Like Being Compared to Lamar Jackson: "We're Two Different Players"
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has frequently been compared to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson throughout his career.
Although Daniels feels flattered by these comparisons, he doesn’t believe they are fair, as he explained before his Week 6 matchup against the two-time MVP.
“I don’t like being compared to Lamar,” Daniels told reporters on Wednesday. “We’re two different players. I want to be recognized as Jayden Daniels, not as the next so-and-so.”
Daniels admitted that he is a fan of Jackson and mentioned that they both have mutual respect for each other. Even so, the rookie believes that, despite both having elite mobility and scrambling abilities, they play the game differently.
“I like watching good quarterback play,” Daniels said. “I’m a fan of his, how he plays the game and how he approaches the game. But we’re two different quarterbacks with different styles. I appreciate what he’s done for the sport and for African American quarterbacks.”
