The 2026 World Baseball Classic final promises a historic matchup between Venezuela and United States, two teams that have reached the decisive game after an exciting tournament. The game will take place at loanDepot Park in Miami and will begin at 8 pm ET, 7 pm CT, and 5 pm PT, with the championship trophy on the line.
For Venezuela, the matchup represents a historic opportunity. The team managed by Omar López reached the final for the first time in the tournament’s history and now hopes to capture its first world title. On the other side stands United States, which is aiming to lift another championship trophy and reaffirm its dominance in international baseball under manager Mark DeRosa.
The road to the final was far from easy for Venezuela. In the group stage, the South American team secured important wins against Netherlands, Israel, and Nicaragua, although it suffered a loss to Dominican Republic. Later, the Venezuelan squad produced one of the biggest surprises of the tournament by eliminating Japan in the quarterfinals and then securing its place in the championship game after defeating Italy in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, United States opened the tournament with victories over Brazil, Great Britain, and Mexico, though it also suffered an unexpected loss to Italy during the group stage. The American team later defeated Canada in the quarterfinals and edged past Dominican Republic in a tight semifinal matchup to book its spot in the final.
The Starting Pitchers for the Championship Game
The title game will feature an intriguing pitching duel on the mound. Venezuela will send left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez, a pitcher with extensive experience in Major League Baseball.
The 32-year-old Venezuelan has spent more than a decade in MLB and will try to contain a powerful American lineup. His only start in the tournament came against Dominican Republic, where he pitched 2.2 innings and struck out five batters.
On the other side, United States manager Mark DeRosa has given the ball to right-hander Nolan McLean, a prospect from the New York Mets organization. The 24-year-old pitcher will face a major challenge against a Venezuelan lineup that has displayed significant offensive power throughout the tournament.
Star Power on Both Lineups
The final will showcase several top stars of the sport. Venezuela could feature hitters such as Ronald Acuña Jr., Luis Arráez, Eugenio Suárez, Gleyber Torres, and Jackson Chourio, players who have been crucial to the team’s offensive production during the tournament.
Meanwhile, United States brings a dangerous lineup led by Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Gunnar Henderson, and Bobby Witt Jr., hitters capable of changing the game with a single swing.
With elite talent on both sides and an electric atmosphere expected in Miami, the final between Venezuela and United States promises to become one of the most exciting games in the history of the World Baseball Classic, as both teams aim to claim the world championship.
