Luka Sucic amazed the home crowd with a shot from outside the box that goalkeeper Jan Oblak could do little about, following an error in delivery by Argentine Rodrigo de Paul that was seized upon by Mikel Oiarzabal.

The Croatian's goal rewarded Real Sociedad's greater attacking intent, as they found themselves at a disadvantage from the very first minute when Julián Álvarez put Atlético ahead with a well-taken shot from the edge of the area.
