FC Barcelona Wins with Lewandowski Hat-Trick Against Alavés
Barcelona's striker Robert Lewandowski dominated in Vitoria, scoring three goals in the first half to secure a 0-3 win over Deportivo Alavés, confirming Barca's top spot.
Things quickly turned in favor of the visitors, with them going ahead at 7 minutes and securing all three goals by the 32nd minute. However, Alavés didn't give up. They had two goals disallowed for offside, hit the post once, and had Antonio Sivera to thank for keeping the scoreline respectable during their third consecutive loss.
The match was lively from the start. An assistant referee disallowed a Barcelona goal for offside at 4 minutes, and shortly after, Hansi Flick had to replace Ferrán Torres with Eric García due to a muscle injury. Just three minutes later, Barcelona went ahead with a header from Robert Lewandowski after a brilliant free-kick by Raphinha.
Barcelona regained possession, and the home side couldn't stop the counter led by Raphinha, who set up Lewandowski to tap the ball into the net. The Polish striker was a nightmare for the local defense. He received the ball in the box and, by the 32nd minute, sealed the game with his third goal.
Alavés kept trying. They took five corners in the first half and managed to beat Iñaki Peña in the 45th minute, but the goal was ruled out by VAR due to an earlier offside in the build-up. After the break, Luis García Plaza reshuffled his defense, and at their first corner, Toni Martínez hit the post of Iñaki Peña.
Alavés pushed on, and Barca managed to slow the game's tempo with more possession and less direct play, but chances kept coming. Antonio Sivera saved again to deny Lewandowski a fourth, and Ansu Fati hit the post in another burst of play from Barcelona, who eventually controlled the game and won convincingly.
