Paul Pogba Is Officially 'Free': What’s Next for His Future?
Paul Pogba can now return to playing football after completing his 18-month doping ban
Now it’s official, 'Pog-Back'. After 18 months of absolute turmoil following his suspension by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) due to testing positive for a doping control, Paul Pogba is officially ‘free’ and will be able to sign with a new team after terminating his contract with Juventus last November. However, it doesn’t seem so easy for him to find a destination in the short term.

Why can’t Olympique Marseille sign Pogba?
During these months, Paul Pogba has continued training on his own with the goal of being in the best physical shape possible by the time his suspension ended. However, it’s important to note that his last professional match was back in September 2023. The lack of competitive match fitness is evident, and understandably, no club has dared to sign him.
In previous months, there was speculation that Pogba could join Ligue 1 due to the ongoing interest from Olympique Marseille. However, the transfer could never have been completed before the end of the season, as Ligue 1 regulations prohibit clubs from signing players after the winter transfer window closes… even if they are free agents.
Pogba: Heading to MLS or Saudi Arabia?
In this way, Pogba is aware that he must make a decisive choice in the coming months: take a risk and wait for a new call from Olympique Marseille… or explore a more exotic destination such as MLS or the Saudi Pro League. In any case, countries like Russia were ruled out by him, stating that "it wasn’t the goal."
It seems that his two main contenders are Inter Miami, where he has been spotted recently due to his close relationship with David Beckham; or Al-Ittihad, where he could reunite with old friends from the French national team, such as Kanté or Benzema. What’s clear is that Pogba is officially ‘free’… but still without a team.
