Ten Hag Throws Shade at Cristiano Ronaldo
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's criticisms by pointing out that the Portuguese forward is "very far from Manchester."
Ronaldo, who left Manchester United at the end of 2022 due to disagreements with the coach, claimed in a podcast with Rio Ferdinand that a United manager, referring to ten Hag, should not say they will not win the Premier League or the Champions League.
"You can't say that; you have to say you will try and actually try. I wish United the same as I wish for myself: to be the best team they can be," Ronaldo added.
In response to Ronaldo's remarks, ten Hag noted that everyone has the right to their opinion but emphasized, "He is in Saudi Arabia; he is very far from Manchester."
During his second stint with Manchester United from 2021 to 2023, Ronaldo played 54 matches and scored 27 goals. In his first season back, he was the Premier League's third-highest scorer and scored several crucial goals to help United advance in the Champions League group stage. However, a couple of early-season defeats in his second year led to his relegation to the bench and strained his relationship with ten Hag.
