After reports indicated that Mexican national team coach Javier Aguirre left the team camp to go to a hospital in Guadalajara, the official channels of the national team clarified that he only visited a doctor for follow-up on a surgery.

They stated, "We inform you that our head coach, Javier Aguirre, went this morning to the clinic of his friend, Dr. Rafael Ortega, for a follow-up study after the back surgery he underwent last month. Javier is doing well and will coach tonight's match against the United States."

"Last night, Rafa Ortega invited me to visit his clinic. Thanks for coming, and stop being gossipy," said Javier Aguirre after rumors about his health arose. He denied the rumors and confirmed that he would be present for the Mexico vs. United States match.
