A Statue of Harry Kane has Been Stored for Years Because There is No Space to Place It
A statue of Harry Kane, forward for Bayern Munich and the English national team, has been stored away for years because authorities can't find a place to put it.
Kane, born in Chingford, a town in the London area, is the all-time leading scorer for Tottenham Hotspur and the English national team.
This summer, unable to win titles with Spurs, he decided to move to Bayern Munich, where he lost the German Supercup, is out of the German Cup, trails Bundesliga leader Bayer Leverkusen by eight points, and must overcome a 1-0 deficit against Lazio in the Champions League round of 16.
In 2019 and 2020, the Waltham Forest council, where Chingford is located, allocated £7,200 (€8,000) for a statue of the footballer, depicting him seated on a bench.
Since then, efforts to find a suitable location have been unsuccessful. A proposal to place it at Chingford metro station was rejected by Transport for London, the company that manages transportation in the capital, citing safety concerns.
Approval was also not granted for it to be placed in Ridgeway Park, although reasons were not provided.
