Gladbach's golden era came during the 1970s. They became the first club to win consecutive Bundesliga titles in 1969-70 and 1970-71 and eventually collected five championships during the decade.
Dortmund's success has been spread across different periods. Their first two Bundesliga titles came consecutively in 1994-95 and 1995-96. They later won in 2001-02 before Jürgen Klopp's team delivered another back-to-back triumph in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Who Else Has Won Multiple Bundesliga Titles?
Werder Bremen are next with four championships. Their titles came in 1964-65, 1987-88, 1992-93 and 2003-04, with the latter achieved as part of a Bundesliga and DFB Cup double.
Hamburg and VfB Stuttgart have three Bundesliga titles each. Hamburg were champions in 1978-79, 1981-82 and 1982-83, while Stuttgart lifted the trophy in 1983-84, 1991-92 and 2006-07.
Cologne and Kaiserslautern have both won twice. Cologne were the Bundesliga's first champions in 1963-64 and won again in 1977-78. Kaiserslautern triumphed in 1990-91 and famously again in 1997-98, immediately after earning promotion.
Five other clubs have won the competition once: 1860 Munich, Eintracht Braunschweig, Nuremberg, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen became the Bundesliga's 13th different champion in 2023-24, completing the first unbeaten season in the competition's history.
