Young Players Who Could Break Out in the 2026-27 Bundesliga

  • From Kennet Eichhorn and Wisdom Mike to new Borussia Dortmund signing Konstantinos Karetsas, the Bundesliga once again features a generation of teenagers ready to take a major step forward.

The Bundesliga has long provided young players with opportunities at the highest level, and the 2026-27 season brings another group of prospects capable of becoming household names. Some have already played senior soccer, while others are entering their first campaign with a realistic chance of earning regular minutes. These are five names to watch.

Kennet Eichhorn — Bayer Leverkusen

At just 17, Kennet Eichhorn arrives at Bayer Leverkusen as one of Germany's most exciting midfield prospects. He made 19 appearances across the Bundesliga 2 and DFB Cup for Hertha Berlin in 2025-26, scoring twice before Leverkusen won the race for his signature.

A deep-lying midfielder known for his composure and passing, Eichhorn now faces the challenge of making the jump to Germany's top division.

Konstantinos Karetsas — Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund's latest investment in youth could be one of the most fascinating players of the season.

The 18-year-old Konstantinos Karetsas joined from Genk and signed through 2031. Despite his age, he already has significant senior experience. Last season he played 34 Belgian league matches and provided 11 assists, while adding two goals and five assists in 11 Europa League appearances.

The Greece international also made his competitive Dortmund debut in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Bayern Munich.

Wisdom Mike — Bayern Munich

Wisdom Mike is only 17 but has already broken into Bayern Munich's senior team.

The winger made his Bundesliga debut shortly after his 17th birthday in 2025 and finished the campaign with four league appearances, while also making his Champions League debut.

His direct dribbling and one-on-one ability make him one of the most intriguing players in Vincent Kompany's young group.

Samuele Inácio — Borussia Dortmund

Another Dortmund prospect to follow is Samuele Inácio.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder received seven Bundesliga appearances during the closing stages of 2025-26, starting four times and scoring his first senior goal as Borussia Dortmund secured second place.

With his ability to operate behind the striker, the Italian could earn an increasingly important role this season.

Noah Darvich — Elversberg

For Noah Darvich, the biggest opportunity could come with newly promoted Elversberg.

The 19-year-old, who previously developed at Freiburg and Barcelona, is spending the season on loan from VfB Stuttgart. He struggled to find senior opportunities at Stuttgart last year, but Elversberg offers a very different environment.

Darvich captained Germany to the U17 World Cup title in 2023 and can play as an attacking midfielder or winger.

Other Young Players to Watch

There are plenty of other candidates. Arijon Ibrahimović returns to Bayern Munich after scoring his first two Bundesliga goals on loan at Heidenheim, while 16-year-old defender Filip Pavić is already part of the champions' first-team picture.

Not every prospect will break through immediately. But with several Bundesliga clubs continuing to trust young players, the 2026-27 season could introduce another generation of stars.
