Balogun on Facing Germany: We Need to Play Against the Best
Folarin Balogun, AS Monaco soccer player, declares himself ready to be the focal point in the USMNT attack and has spoken about the importance of playing against top teams, like Germany in this case.
Coming from a good moment with Monaco. How does that translate into the National Team?:
"It’s been a good start to the season and of course I came out here with the team last camp. I needed to get some fitness and the team helped me to do that so then when I went back to Monaco put me in a good position now I’m coming back into camp with a fitness and a few goals so I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow."
Germany, a top rival:
"As I've said before we need to play against the best teams and Germany definitely is one of them so it’s a great opportunity for us to match ourselves and see where we’re at against such a good side, and I’m sure we’ll be able to do well and have a good performance tomorrow."
Playing in front of a sellout:
"It’s amazing. I mean whenever you have a packed stadium with especially the home fans cheering you one always gives you extra motivation, so we’ll be looking to come out here tomorrow and make a statement and obviously make them proud, give them something to cheer about."
The new generation of the USMNT:
"I think it’s good, as you said young players, so coming into camp we have a lot of similarities and just things in common we can speak about, so I mean it’s really helpful for me and everyone’s been really friendly really helpful with me helping me to settle in and I mean the transition for me is going pretty smooth."
Getting to know the team:
"It’s just understanding the way Gregg wants us to play, the way he wants us to carry out certain jobs. Yes it’s constant process, there’s a lot of information to take in a not a lot of time; we got on Camp I think only about 10 days, so I mean as I said everyday is a learning opportunity and for sure I can see the improvements I make."
