This is How The Teams Arrive for The Second leg in The Sudamericana
With the first leg matches of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana Round of 16 Playoffs played, the teams are preparing for the decisive second leg. Racing de Montevideo achieved a valuable away victory against Huachipato, winning 3-2. This result puts the Uruguayan team in a favorable position for the rematch, which will be played next Tuesday.
Racing secured the victory thanks to two goals from Guillermo Cotugno and one from Dylan Nadín, highlighting the performance of Jonathan Urretaviscaya, who assisted all three goals. Huachipato scored through Paraguayan Cris Martínez.
In another match, Rosario Central defeated Internacional 1-0 at home, with a goal from Jaminton Campaz, one of the standout players in Miguel Ángel Russo's team.
Palestino and Cuiabá drew in the first match played in Chile. The home team took the lead, but Cuiabá equalized with a great finish from Deyverson, a former CONMEBOL Libertadores champion with Palmeiras. The Brazilian goalkeeper became a key figure by saving a penalty in the last play of the match.
LDU Quito, the reigning champion, triumphed 3-0 against Always Ready in the first leg and will look to secure their place in the Round of 16 in Bolivia next week. The goals were scored by Arce, Adé, and Julio.
Athletico Paranaense, another Copa champion, drew 1-1 with Cerro Porteño in Asunción. The match was marked by two missed penalties, one by Churín for the home team and another by Fernandinho for the Brazilian team. Arias, who replaced Jean in the local goal, saved the penalty.
In a clash between champions, Independiente del Valle and Boca Juniors drew 0-0 in the first leg. The rematch will be played at La Bombonera next Wednesday. Independiente del Valle maintains their unbeaten record at home against Argentine teams in CONMEBOL tournaments, with a history of eight wins and four draws, including this season with victories over San Lorenzo and a draw with Boca.
Boca Juniors have kept a clean sheet in five of their last six away matches in CONMEBOL knockout rounds, with the only exception being a 1-1 draw against Palmeiras in the 2023 Libertadores semifinals.
Barcelona and Red Bull Bragantino drew 1-1 in Guayaquil. The goals were scored by Helinho and Janner Corozo, leaving everything open for the rematch that will be played next Wednesday at Bragantino's stadium. Barcelona broke a streak of four consecutive matches without scoring against Brazilian teams in CONMEBOL competitions, while Bragantino extended their unbeaten run against Ecuadorian teams in the Sudamericana.
Finally, Libertad defeated Universidad Católica de Ecuador 2-0 in the first match of the day. This victory is historic for the Paraguayan team, as with 77 matches, they surpassed Independiente (76) and positioned themselves in the podium of teams with the most matches played in the history of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, a list led by São Paulo (81) and LDU Quito (94).
