Joan Laporta Confirms New Camp Nou Inauguration Date
After multiple delays, FC Barcelona’s long-awaited return to its iconic stadium now has a confirmed date. Club president Joan Laporta has announced that the new Spotify Camp Nou will officially reopen on Aug. 10 with a friendly match.

Back Home After Two Years Away
The reigning La Liga champions have spent the past two seasons playing at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, where they secured last year’s league title. Now, the team and fans are eager to return to their historic home.
In an interview with Spanish broadcaster TV3, Laporta said the club plans to use the Joan Gamper Trophy match as a test event for the revamped stadium. The friendly would allow FC Barcelona to evaluate logistical operations such as crowd access and overall stadium functionality.
La Liga Debut Likely in Late September
Laporta also noted that the team may not host an official La Liga match at Camp Nou until late September. The club has requested that its early league fixtures be played away from home to allow more time for final preparations.

A $1.5 Billion Investment in a World-Class Venue
The stadium renovation, with a budget of more than $1.5 billion, is approximately 70% complete. Although the original plan was to return by November 2024, additional design upgrades led to further delays.
Despite the timeline adjustment, the new Camp Nou is already in the running to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup Final, as Spain, Portugal and Morocco are set to co-host the tournament
Innovation and Infrastructure
Once completed, the updated stadium will seat more than 60,000 fans and feature state-of-the-art technology, including a modern drainage system, climate-controlled ventilation, a retractable roof, and multipurpose spaces. The project aims to position Camp Nou among the world’s leading sports venues
A New Era Begins
More than just a return to its roots, FC Barcelona’s homecoming marks the start of a new era, blending tradition with innovation and reaffirming the club’s ambition to reclaim its place among Europe’s elite.
