A Storm Disrupts Real Madrid’s Trip to New York: Is the Clash With PSG Postponed?
A strong tropical storm hitting the Palm Beach area in Florida has disrupted Real Madrid’s travel plans to New York, where the Spanish club is set to face Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semifinal.
The team coached by Xabi Alonso was scheduled to fly to the northeast of the United States early in the afternoon, but a weather alert forced a delay. It wasn’t until after 5:00 p.m. local time that the club published photos of the team boarding the plane. “Next stop: New York,” Real Madrid wrote on their official X account, easing some of the concern among fans.
The weather issue hasn’t come as a surprise for the team, as they have had to adjust their training schedules over the past few days due to frequent thunderstorms in the region. Earlier on Tuesday, the team completed their session at The Gardens at North County District before heading to the airport.
Uncertainty surrounds Real Madrid vs PSG as storm looms
Despite the travel complications, Real Madrid plans to stick to its original schedule: land in New York with enough time to prepare for the match against PSG, set to take place on Wednesday at the iconic MetLife Stadium, which seats more than 80,000 spectators.

A key moment before the match will be Xabi Alonso’s press conference, scheduled for 7:45 p.m. local time (1:45 a.m. Wednesday in Spain). However, the flight delay may jeopardize its timing.
So far, there has been no official indication that the clash between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain will be postponed or canceled. Still, weather authorities continue to monitor the situation, and last-minute changes could happen if conditions worsen.
The Spanish club heads into the semifinal after a convincing quarterfinal win and with a squad full of stars. Meanwhile, PSG, led by Luis Enrique, is also arriving strong. With the storm as an unexpected factor, this highly anticipated European showdown might not kick off as smoothly as planned.
