Trump's presence had been confirmed the day before by Infantino himself during a media event at Trump Tower in New York. The Swiss official praised the president’s support, stating that Trump “immediately embraced the importance of the Club World Cup and next year’s World Cup,” highlighting their strong working relationship.
A Key Stage Ahead of the 2026 World Cup
The MetLife Stadium, host of Sunday’s clash between the European giants, is also set to stage the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, making this Club World Cup showdown a symbolic dress rehearsal for the global football spectacle to come next summer on American soil.
