(VIDEO) Ronaldinho’s Magic Isn’t Going Anywhere
At 45 years old, the eternal football wizard continues to show that talent knows no age or retirement. Ronaldinho, a living legend of world football, once again stole the spotlight during the ‘Jogo dos Famosos’ exhibition match held at Son Moix Stadium in Mallorca.
The Brazilian icon, known for his joyful, imaginative and elegant style, gifted the 11,000+ fans in attendance with a moment straight out of his glory days. In the 80th minute, with the score tied at 2-2, Ronaldinho found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. With a smooth feint, he effortlessly dribbled past the keeper and, just before scoring, paused on the goal line, waved to the crowd, and then gently tapped the ball into the net. Pure ‘Dinho’—a mix of flair and fun.
A match full of stars
The event featured numerous legends from Spanish and Brazilian football, including Maicon, Edmílson, Mazinho, Gamarra, Iván Campo, Capdevila, Pisculichi, and Senna. Joan Capdevila scored twice for the Spanish side in a thrilling match that ended in a 3-3 draw. But beyond the final score, it was all about the spectacle and the nostalgia that made the evening unforgettable.
Officially retired since 2015, Ronaldinho continues to embody football entertainment. His legacy lives on not only through his achievements at clubs like FC Barcelona, AC Milan, and PSG, but also through the joy he still brings to fans every time he steps on a pitch—even for an exhibition.
Ronaldinho backs Lamine Yamal
In a recent interview with L’Équipe, the former player commented on two of today’s biggest football stars: Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. About the Frenchman, he said they shared similar paths after leaving PSG, albeit to different clubs. When talking about Barcelona’s rising star, he didn’t hold back his praise: “He’s a precocious talent. I love watching him for his creativity. If he continues like this, he’ll be a superstar. The next Ballon d’Or, for sure.”
One thing is certain: even if he’s no longer playing at the top level, Ronaldinho remains a global football icon. Every time he touches the ball, the world is reminded why he’s called “the smile of football.”
