Barcelona Reaches Out to Retired Szczęsny
The Blaugrana club has shown interest in the situation of the former Polish goalkeeper, who recently retired after finishing his contract with Juventus.
FC Barcelona is searching for a goalkeeper to replace Marc-André ter Stegen, who will be sidelined for at least eight months due to an injury sustained at La Cerámica Stadium.
In this context, one name that has emerged is Wojciech Szczęsny, the experienced 34-year-old Polish goalkeeper who recently retired from football after finishing his contract with Juventus.
Wojciech Szczęsny has been contacted by the Catalan club. According to the Polish outlet Meczyki, despite having decided to hang up his boots, the opportunity to join Barcelona could lead the international player to reconsider his decision and remain active in the sport.
Initial Contact
So far, the approach between Szczęsny and FC Barcelona has only been an initial contact. The club has yet to make a definitive decision on who will take over the goalkeeper position following Ter Stegen's injury. The situation is critical, as the team needs to find a solution quickly.
This comes after a key meeting held on Tuesday at Camp Nou, where options for replacing Ter Stegen were discussed. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, this summit included Deco, the Barcelona sporting director, and Flick, who evaluated the available alternatives.
Among the options considered was whether the club would enter the market for free agents or wait until January to make a signing.
For now, discussions are ongoing to explore the Polish goalkeeper's willingness.
Keylor Navas on the List
The same outlet also reported that Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas is open to joining the Barcelona team.
This summer, Navas received multiple offers, including some from Saudi Arabia and Brazil, but he opted for a prestigious club and ultimately ended up without a team.
Now, he is willing to join Barcelona, despite his past as a Real Madrid player, accepting a reduced salary and committing to only one season.
